Last week, 40 new lime trees were planted in Pishiobury Park to create an avenue from the southern end of Oak Walk towards the main car park, in-time developing a corridor for people and wildlife to enjoy
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, this avenue is centred around a veteran lime tree, which is estimated to be between 200 - 400 years old! We are grateful to the Countryside & Rights of Way Service for their efforts in progressing this project, and are especially thankful for all the volunteers who turned out on a wet and muddy day to help with the planting
This project is the result of a recently updated conservation masterplan for Pishiobury Park, which you can learn more about here: https://www.eastherts.gov.uk/.../parks.../pishiobury-park
We are sad to report that the cows left the park a little early this year due being repeatedly chased by dogs off of leads. We have many fabulous dog walkers who use our park daily and who always have their dogs under control. Unfortunately a small minority have not followed the guidance and have caused unnecessary stress to the animals. The cattle are incredibly important to the management of our beautiful Local Nature Reserve and we look forward to welcoming them back next year.
